Zulte Waregem had a mostly mixed season last year as at one point they looked like breaking into the play-offs, only for a dire run in the final few weeks and a 7:2 last-day loss to Gent to deny them the chance to push for European spot. It has been a few lean years for Essevee now but long-serving coach Francky Dury knows that he has the support of the board and the fans and will look to mould a more successful team this time around. Yet, the signs are not looking too promising at the moment for Essevee, who lost their main attacking threat last season in Gianni Bruno, heading to Gent, while also seeing big players in defence like Laurens de Bock and Olivier Deschacht depart and retire, respectively. Dury has done some decent business already though as Jos van Aken is a player of good quality at the back at this level while Zinho Gano certainly knows where the back of the net is. Lasse Vigen is also a pretty sound addition in midfield and could bring something different. Yet, the squad does not really look like it makes a lot of sense at the moment and a couple more additions are needed to make it look more cohesive as a whole.

Target

Overall, Essevee are too good to struggle at the bottom end of the standings but it is unlikely that they will much of a splash higher up the table.
