The past one was a very disappointing season for Avellino, always floating in the middle part of the table, at times also involved in the relegation struggle and never able to make the quantum leap to reach the playoffs…they ended in 14th place. The biancoverdi seemed to have paid dearly the change on the bench, Massimo Rastelli in the last years had shaped the squad managing to get the most out of a team definitely solid and made of players who knew each other well, but without much quality. Even though his substitute was an experienced coach like Tesser, he struggled to give a clear identity to the squad: after an awful beginning that saw the biancoverdi for long inside the relegation zone, things started going better. After the winter break the Campanians played their best football, but when were about to reach the playoff zone collapsed again. At this point the club decided to fire Tesser to appoint Dario Marcolin…a very bad mistake as with the former Modena coach Avellino collected only one point in five games...he was obviously dismissed to call back Tesser who did his job helping the wolves to avoid being involved in the relegation struggle. Anyway Tesser ended his experience and in June Domenico Toscano was appointed new coach. Former Ternana gaffer immediately changed the system of play, from the 4-3-1-2 of his two predecessors to a more attacking 3-4-3. During the summer transfer market the club worked well, kept most of its best players strengthening the defense with former Ternana Gonzalez and young Donkor, and the attack with fast striker Bidaoui and interesting Under 21 international Verde on loan from Roma. However the first approach to the new season was very poor as Avellino were kicked out of Coppa Italia by Bassano Virtus, a Lega Pro team.

Target

The goal of the wolves is to reach the playoffs, it won't be easy as the team still lacks of enough quality. More realistically they will float in the middle of the table hoping to make the quantum leap necessary to reach the first eight places.
