2015-2016 was a season to remember for Benevento that earned the chance to play for the second time in Serie B...87 years after the first one! They played a good first part of the season and a perfect second one with a record of 18 consecutive games unbeaten that led the giallorossi to win the Lega Pro group C with one round in advance. The main architect of this triumph was coach Gaetano Auteri who however resigned at the end of the season. The club decided to entrust the bench to former Novara Marco Baroni, one of the best coaches in recent years in Serie B. Baroni, unlike his predecessor who usually relied on the 3-4-3 system of play, will switch to a 4-men defense, opting either for the 4-3-1-2 or the 4-3-3. During the summer transfer market the club has acted wisely, without radically changing the group of the players that led them to Serie B, they made purchases aimed at filling in gaps and to add experience and quality to the team. First of all the Campanians took on loan from Cagliari an excellent goalkeeper like Cragno, then a very experienced striker like former Ternana Ceravolo. Moreover took on loan from different Serie A teams some interesting youngsters. The seasonal debut was not the best since Benevento were knocked out by Salernitana in the second round of Coppa Italia.

Target

As with all newly promoted teams the main goal of Benevento will be to avoid an immediate relegation, the dream to repeat the extraordinary path of Frosinone that two years ago made the double jump in class.
