Last year Brescia have gone beyond all expectations ending the season in 11th position and always remaining in the top end of the table, for long also inside the playoff zone, only in the last month they collapsed, probably tired of a year played above their means. Anyway it was a great season considering they were relegated in Lega Pro and readmitted in Serie B only because of Parma bankruptcy...the team had been set up to participate to Lega Pro and have only had a few weeks to make a Serie B transfer campaign, moreover, due to economic problems, they made a low profile market mainly relying on very young players (they were the youngest team of all Serie B!). Coach Boscaglia made a great job assembling well a bunch of interesting but completely inexperienced youngsters, but unfortunately he resigned and the bench was entrusted to former Milan Christian Brocchi. The Sicilian coach always relied on the 4-2-3-1 system of play, while his substitute should opt for a more attacking 4-3-3. Unfortunately most of last season's best players left for the end of loans leaving a big gap especially in midfield...Mazzitelli, Kupisz and Embalo at the moment haven't been replaced with same level players, the only purchase of a certain weight is that of former Udinese Pinzi. Moreover Spanish centre-forward Gejo, who scored 11 goals, surprisingly left and was replaced by young Bonazzoli. Another unexpected defection is the one of experienced defender Antonio Caracciolo. The approach to the new season was quite disastrous as the Lombards were defeated 0-2 by newly promoted Pisa in Coppa Italia second round.

Target

The rondinelle seem weakened compared to last season, the best players left and were not replaced. Moreover the new coach is maybe promising but still inexperienced. Unless important moves in the last part of the transfer market, Brescia seem destined to fight to avoid relegation.
