Perugia are coming from a very disappointing season ended in 10th position, never able to make the quantum leap necessary to fight for a spot in the playoffs. As the previous year, just back in Serie B after a long time, surprised everybody reaching the playoffs, it was expected an improvement, also because of an important transfer market, but they floated all the time in the middle of the table alternating victories and defeats, not able to give continuity to their results. Yet coach Bisoli gave a great defensive solidity to the team, but failed to give an equally effective system of attack. At the end of the season Bisoli resigned and the club surprisingly appointed inexperienced Christian Bucchi as new coach. While Bisoli often opted for the 4-2-3-1 system of play, Bucchi should field the team with a more attacking 4-3-3. During the summer transfer campaign the griphons lost many important players who were on loan such as Spinazzola, Ardemagni, Prcic and Molina, while midfielder Rizzo and striker Fabinho went both to Vicenza. The gaps left by these players were not completely filled yet...noteworthy only the arrival of experienced midfielder Brighi, former Avellino centre-back Chiosa and midfielder Dezi on loan from Napoli. Yet Perugia had a very good season beginning as they reached the fourth round of Coppa Italia (where they will face Genoa) having defeated Alessandria and Carpi.

Target

Without arrivals of important players in the last days of the transfer market, Perugia look set to follow the footsteps of last season or even worse considering the complete inexperience of the coach at this level.
