It was a 17th placed finish last season for Bristol City who were never in danger of relegation but were very inconsistent. There are definitely some positives to take going into this season; their ability to score goals and their good end to the campaign (last six matches; three wins, two draws, one defeat). The close season has seen the Robins make some astute signings. Right wing-back was a problem position last season, they seem to have solved that with the signing of Kane Wilson who was an ever-present for Forest Green last season as they were promoted and was named League Two player of the season. They have also strengthened their somewhat leaky defence by bringing in the experienced Naismith, an ever-present in Luton’s run to the playoff semi-final last season. City have managed to keep their destructive attacking trio of Martin, Semenyo and Weimann together. They scored 42 league goals between them last season with Weimann top scoring with 22. Talented midfielder Scott also impressed last season and has attracted interest but for now he remains at the club. With a well-balanced exciting squad to choose from and led by the experienced Nigel Pearson, Bristol City could be a surprise package this season.

Target

Minimum target should be a top 10 finish. Don’t rule them out of challenging for the playoffs.
