Luton were superb last season, finishing the regular campaign in sixth before narrowly losing out to Huddersfield in the playoff semi-finals. Manager Nathan Jones was named Championship manager of the year. It may be difficult to manage expectations after last season but Jones will no doubt play down his side's chances of again mixing it in the promotion race. They look to have made some excellent additions to their squad. Strikers Woodrow and Morris have been standout players in the Championship for Barnsley in the last few seasons. At the moment, they have hung onto most of their impressive performers from last season including powerful striker Adebayo and all-action midfielder Campbell. The one significant departure is that of defender Naismith who was an ever-present in 2021/22. Whatever squad they end up with at the end of the transfer window you know what you are going to get with Luton under Jones. A hardworking side that are very tough to play against especially at home. Expect at the very least a solid season from the Hatters which sees them comfortably finish in mid-table. However, don’t rule them out mounting another playoff push. One problem for them could be hanging onto their manager, although Jones has strong connections with the club.

Target

Should be targeting a push for the playoffs.
