Cardiff endured a miserable time for much of last season but still comfortably avoided relegation. Mick McCarthy was sacked and replaced by Steve Morison, initially on a temporary basis, before being awarded the job permanently following an impressive turnaround in results. Cardiff showed brief spells of positivity in the second half of the season under Morison. After being restricted to what he could do midway through a season, Morison has overseen the task of trying to implement a new passing style at Cardiff, moving away from the over-reliance on defending and set pieces. A huge revamp of the squad has taken place in order to implement the changes, with a huge focus being on refreshing the team with a younger look and one that is more comfortable in possession and can provide some flair. Much of the job is complete after securing transfer targets early, for little to no cost. The revamp is a breath of fresh air at Cardiff and there is excitement within the fanbase as many players from lower divisions, as well as the academy, are being handed opportunities. However, the lack of experience within the squad, and the sheer number of changes within the playing staff could make it a slow start for the Bluebirds whilst the players gel with their new teammates.

Target

A comfortable mid-table finish this time around with some more entertaining football on display, during a season of transition amidst the changes in style and personnel.
