Bristol Rovers' 2019/20 season can be split into two completely contrasting parts, as they were displaying promotion form prior to losing manager Graham Coughlan and relegation form after his departure. The inexperienced Ben Garner, who took over following Coughlan's departure, is trying to get the side to playing modern passing football, but there are big question marks regarding whether he has the personnel to successfully pull that off. Garner was under immense pressure prior to the pandemic-enforced break, but the club opted to stick with him going into the new season. The Gas have seen their squad change a great deal. Most notably, they have lost star man Jonson Clarke-Harris, who joined Peterborough, while several other players who featured frequently have left, such as Liam Sercombe, Ollie Clarke and Tony Craig. They have also made several eye-catching signings, with the arrivals of Max Ehmer and Jack Baldwin giving their fans reasons to hope that they will have a rock-solid defence this time around. However, what is obviously missing from their list of arrivals is a player who could replace Clarke-Harris''s goals. With their main source of threat leaving and a manager who has it all to prove at the helm, their fans have plenty of reasons for concern going into the new season.

Target

The Gas will be hoping for a top half finish, but there are more ways than one in which things could go very wrong for them.
