Fleetwood have done rather well last time around, having managed to make the play-offs, but obviously cannot be fully happy, having failed to reach the final after being defeated by eventual play-off winners Wycombe. Still, they are making obvious progress under Joey Barton and will be hoping for this to be the season where things finally click and they qualify for the second tier for the first time in their history. A large chunk of their revenue comes directly from the owners, so they were rather unaffected by months of no gate receipts. While losing Lewie Coyle was certainly somewhat of a disappointment, the other players who left were either backup men or hardly featured last season due to recurring injury issues. The Cod Army are expected to do some more shopping over the coming weeks but, thus far, have gone for quality rather than quantity, having brought in only four players, one of which, in Jordan Rossiter, spent time with the club last season and impressed before having his stay cut short by injury. All in all, Fleetwood have the same manager and a touch stronger side going into the new season and their goal will therefore be to build on their last season's exploits and win promotion.

Target

Expecting direct promotion might be a touch too optimistic, but the Cod Army definitely look well equipped to push for a play-off place.
