Fluminense had a memorable season last year, winning the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their history and the Campeonato Carioca. However, the team couldn't maintain consistency throughout the year and finished in 7th place in the league. In the last transfer window, Fluminense lost center-back Nino, who was crucial to the success of the previous season. The team's main signings were midfielders Renato Augusto, Gabriel Pires, David Terans; wingers Douglas Costa and Marquinhos; and center-back Antônio Carlos. None of them with a starting status. Perhaps the main strength of this team is continuity. Manager Fernando Diniz has been with Fluminense since May 2022. His style of play is well implemented, and he has very technical players at his disposal who are accustomed to his unique style, such as Marcelo, André, Ganso, Germán Cano, and Jhon Arias. On the other hand, Fluminense has a very aging squad. Fábio (43); Felipe Melo (40); Marcelo (35); Samuel Xavier (33); Thiago Santos (34); Ganso (34); Cano (36); Keno (34) are all starters for them. Consequently, injuries and technical decline of the players during the season will pose a risk. Another concern should be the possible departure of key player André during the European summer.
