Football Season Guide

Palmeiras had another successful season under manager Abel Ferreira in 2023. They won the league title after an incredible comeback in the final stretch and reached the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores. The squad underwent very few changes for the new season. The main loss was that of winger Artur, who didn't even finish 2023 as a starter. Of the new signings, only defensive midfielder Aníbal Moreno has been a starter. Caio Paulista, Lázaro and Rômulo add depth to the squad. As always, Palmeiras have proved to be a difficult team to beat at the start of the season. They won the Campeonato Paulista for the 3rd year in a row and lost just one game in the competition. Palmeiras are the reigning champions and have a very strong and defensively solid team. They didn't suffer any major losses in the transfer window and the continuity of manager Abel Ferreira suggests that they should continue to be a powerhouse of Brazilian football. On the other hand, young star striker Endrick will leave in the European summer. Rony, one of the possible replacements, is currently in a very poor form and Dudu, who is recovering from injury, has very different qualities. Another option for Endrick's place would be new signing Bruno Rodrigues, has a long-term injury.
