Rotherham find themselves back in the Championship after a decent response to their relegation two seasons ago. The Millers beat Shrewsbury in the play-off final and will be keen to show they are a better side since the dark days of two years ago. In Paul Warne they have a manager who has learnt on the job and he will be more ready for the second tier this time around. You sense though Rotherham are a side that lack real genuine class and there are few standout players in their squad. You sense it will be a campaign where they will struggle but team spirit could carry them through. Summer signings have not exactly been over inspiring. Warne appears to be looking at his defence first with experienced defenders Zak Vyner, Clark Robertson and Billy Jones signing to support an all-ready experienced back line. The other arrival so far is Blackpool forward Kyle Vassell but you sense in attack it is where they really need to improve. But Rotherham have kept last year's side together so they have a formula and are unlikely to need to change too much in their approach. That could really work in their favour as they should be ready to start the season with a consistent approach that other clubs maybe do not have.

Target

Rotherham will purely and simply be looking to survive in the division. They know how hard it is from two seasons ago and staying in the league again will be an achievement in itself. Of course anything else will be a huge bonus.
