Wrexham have provided the kind of fairytale story that even their famous Hollywood owners couldn't have scripted. The Welsh side ended their 15-year absence from the Football League in a season of twists and turns which culminated in their first league trophy for 45 years. The Red Dragons battled tooth and nail against an inspired Notts County in a thrilling title race that had the most dramatic of conclusions. Ben Foster's injury-time penalty save in a crucial top-of-the-table clash was ultimately the decisive moment. The club has been transformed from a lowly unheralded outfit in North Wales to being known around the world, thanks to the huge financial investment by A-list actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. With the step up to League Two ahead, the summer transfer activity has been surprisingly quiet so far. Centre-back Will Boyle from Championship side Huddersfield has been the only signing. More incomings are expected, with several players being released to make room in the squad. Perhaps the most important pieces of business have occurred in-house. Phil Parkinson will continue to lead the team after guiding them to promotion. Experienced goalkeeper Foster, who came out of retirement to play for the club last season, has decided to extend his stay for another year. Top scorer and star man Paul Mullin is another player who has been crucially retained. The Robins' fans will be hoping he can transfer his goal scoring heroics up at a higher level. Reynolds and McElhenney have also been able to secure another lucrative sponsorship deal with United Airlines, which will help continue to elevate the club's profile around the world. The sky really is the limit for Wrexham.

Target

The ultimate goal for Wrexham and their ambitions owners is to get to the promise land of the Premier League. Back-to-back promotions has to be the target for this season.
