Looking for a third straight title win, last season was a disappointing one for Club Brugge. They were never really in contention for the top spot and ended up finishing 4th. Two managers were sacked during the campaign and they ended the season without a permanent boss. There is a new man in the Club Brugge hotseat now with Ronny Deila being handed the reins. He has done well in other European leagues and did a good job at Standard Liege last season. There has not been a big turnover of players during the summer so far with regular starters Mata and Lang the only significant departures. Coming in have been Norwegian international midfielder Vetlesen and Polish winger Skoras along with young Brazilian striker Thiago. Thiago looks an exciting acquisition with the powerful centre-forward scoring 19 times and providing 11 assists for Bulgarian top flight side Ludogorets in 2022/23. Overall, Club Brugge remain a strong side with knowledge of what it takes to win the Belgian First Division. However, the club find themselves in an unfamiliar position. Their aura of being the team to beat was halted last season. Are we seeing a shift in power in the Belgian league or can Club Brugge regain their status as the top side?

Target

Undoubtedly will be wanting to regain the title. What could help them would be not having European football – a playoff will determine if they make it into the Europa Conference League.
