Bournemouth face a new era in their history after relegation from the Premier League and the departure of manager and club legend Eddie Howe. Howe’s long-time assistant Jason Tindall has been appointed as the new boss. His only previous managerial role was a year in charge at non-league Weymouth in 2007-2008. It remains to be seen if he can smoothly make the transition to main man after so long as Howe's second in command. Along with Howe, several long serving members of the playing squad have left including club captain Simon Francis, vice-captain Andrew Surman, creative midfielder Ryan Fraser and left back Charlie Daniels. Key defender Nathan Ake and last season’s first choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale have also been sold. More significant departures seem likely before the end of the transfer window with David Brooks, Joshua King and Callum Wilson attracting considerable interest. Despite no new additions yet, the current squad still looks capable of challenging towards the top half of the table. However, if Brooks and either King or Wilson were to be sold, this would leave the squad short on creativity and goal threat. Much will depend on how the squad looks after the transfer window closes and how Tindall adapts to his new role.

Target

A mid-table finish is a realistic goal given the major changes at the club.
