Brentford have gone about their summer business with gusto, signing players from abroad as well as home as their unique scouting model continues. An eye watering arrival has been forward Neal Maupay from St Etienne. Demanding owners will require a promotion hunt this term but boss Dean Smith is often more realistic. Nevertheless there is cautious optimism at Griffin Park this summer thanks to their recent arrivals and the way they finished last season. The Bees were quite impressive in the second part of the campaign with notable mentions to both Jota and Lasse Vibe. Keeping hold of the pair will be big, especially Jota who has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer. Brentford will look to use Griffin Park, their tight home ground, to their advantage, an old-fashioned venue few opposing teams should enjoy visiting. Brentford can certainly be encouraged by their form in pre-season to demonstrate they can be a threat in this division. Judging by their friendly results and performances they will be ready to take on their rivals swiftly and Smith can be optimistic over what lies ahead, having employed several players across the summer matches before the real event gets going.

Target

Brentford will aim for a top six spot, something they have achieved in this division in the recent past.
