Millwall won promotion back to the Championship via the play-offs last term to confirm just how good a job former player Neil Harris is doing at the club. But the Lions know they have a tall order to survive in this division. It has not been a particularly busy summer in the transfer market. Harris has prioritised the defence with Conor McLaughlin, James Meredith and Jake Cooper impressive arrivals. Jed Wallace and George Saville are known to the club having been on previous loan spells and have now signed permanently at the Den. Tom Elliott has joined from Wimbledon to supplement the attack. There are real question marks over whether the players from League One last term, including some of their arrivals, can make the step up though. Much could depend on Steve Morison, the veteran striker who has been as much of a talisman for the club as Harris during his playing days. Millwall boast a passionate fanbase and the Den is a ground that few visiting teams relish playing at so they will hope to use home games to their advantage. They were boosted throughout last season by successful news off the pitch as the Den's future was secured. They will hope to take that feel good factor into this campaign. Harris knows he has his work cut out to continue last season's successes but at least Millwall are back into a division that match the size and stature of the club.

Target

Harris will want a top half finish but that appears to be unrealistic. With the squad he has the aim must surely be exclusively to survive.
