Football Season Guide

Derby have flirted with promotion to the Premier League for the last few seasons but for one reason or another have fallen just short. They surely have few excuses this time now they have brought in the determined, but controversial Nigel Pearson as their new manager. They have a very strong squad on paper and the right management team it would appear but now is the time for their players to deliver. Other than Pearson's arrival it has been a very quiet summer. Few would argue that Derby actually need further additions but there is money there if Pearson would like to add to his squad. To date he has yet to take up that option, instead choosing to work with the squad of players he has. Derby will hope that Pearson can hit the ground running and not take his time to get the best out of his players.
