Following a slow start to last season, Manchester City bounced back and went on a staggering 19-game unbeaten run in the Premier League to clinch the title with three matches to go. Pep Guardiola’s side came close to winning the much-coveted quadruple, but they were eliminated at the hands of Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals and failed to beat Thomas Tuchel’s men in the Champions League final. Boasting last term’s Manager of the season in Guardiola, Player of the season in Ruben Dias and Young player of the season in Phil Foden, City also saw as many as six of their players being named in the PFA Team of the Year. City parted ways with club legend Sergio Aguero, who joined Barcelona along with Eric Garcia, after their contracts expired. Their only signings for the time being are back-up goalkeeper Scott Carson, and Grealish, but they are looking to sign a world-class striker to further strengthen their squad. The Sky Blues really don’t have many weaknesses and their only worry would be whether their fringe players can deliver when the team will compete for all four trophies and will need them the most in the crucial period between January and March. Four of their seven opening fixtures will be against Tottenham, Arsenal, Leicester City and Liverpool, but even if City get off to a slow start again, they demonstrated last season that they have what it takes to turn things around.
