Had very difficult transition season last term, but after positive managerial change and better luck with injuries things improved rapidly from December onwards and the last 3 months of the campaign were pretty strong. With experienced manager Frank Vercauteren at the helm now full time captain Kompany can focus mainly on his tasks on the pitch, which should bring much better stability to Anderlecht’s displays. Despite losing several good players in the off season and making only 1 notable new signing so far (left-back Mykhaylichenko) Anderlecht still look as strong as ever ahead of the new campaign. Not all of the army of returning from loans players will stay at the club, but at the same time Anderlecht are expected to make at least 1-2 big signings between now and October. Currently have the largest squad in the entire league, which could prove very advantageous ahead of what will undoubtedly be congested season that could also be affected seriously by COVID. Have great depth for every position on the pitch and pretty healthy competition for places. Anderlecht look ready for the season already, which is big thing to say with many other teams still rebuilding. The one thing that worry the manager is what the health of the squad will be, with at least 4-5 of those expected to be regulars having history of injury issues. All of Kompany, Trebel, Vlap, Roofe and Dimata will likely miss some games, hope being that none of them will suffer any hugely serious injuries.

Target

Top 3 finish looks achievable, but the real goal is the title. Having large squad and exciting mix between young talents and tested veterans definitely makes Anderlecht contenders again.
