The Canaries had disappointing last season that saw them conceding way too many goals and suffering lots of serious injuries. In the end Sint-Truiden never really troubled the top 6 and were somewhat glad to see the campaign interrupted before the play-offs. In the off-season appointed Kevin Muscat in charge, with this to be the first job for the controversial gaffer outside Australia. Up to now the transfer approach had been very cautious, this despite the fact that as many as 5 regulars, including captain Botaka and vice-captain De Petter, are no longer in the team. The only new arrival is young winger Keito Nakamura. However, at least 5 other names strongly linked with Sint-Truiden right now and in near future serious transfer activity can be expected. Muscat has used almost exclusively 4-2-3-1 formation in his many years in charge of Melbourne Victory, with this most likely to be his first-choice shape for the Canaries too. Sint-Truiden have many fast players and using counterattacks and lots of through balls likely to be part of the game plan. Lack experience in the wide areas right now where bunch of young exciting prospects are not likely to provide consistency for an entire season. Also 3 of the 4 centre-backs in the current squad are prone to injuries, all 3 of them missed more than 10 rounds last term.

Target

Sint-Truiden look like a work in progress and it most likely will be challenge for Muscat in his first season in Belgium to secure top 8 finish. Still staying out of trouble all throughout should be easily achieved.
