Tromsø managed to successfully return back in the top division after a year away and impressed in doing so, racing to the top spot and never really being in serious jeopardy of missing out. Coach Gaute Helstrup has quickly managed to settle into an effective system with three at the back since taking over at the start of last season and has managed to maximise the attacking qualities of the squad while retaining stability at the back. Of course, the Northerners start the new season as one of the main candidates for relegation but they have a solid foundation to build on and will be determined to keep their heads above the water for most of the campaign. It has been a pretty decent off-season for Tromsø as the only player of real importance who has departed is Lars Sætra at the back. On the other hand, Moses Ebiye is a good addition in attack and will offer alternatives to the front two of Runar Espejord and Eric Kitolano. Veteran midfielder Ruben Yttegard Jensen will be once again a driving force in midfield to ensure that the team remains competitive and battling in most of their games and there is indeed enough optimism that Helstrup will manage to secure the team's safety for another season.
