A timely replacement at the helm proved to be crucial for RB Leipzig who overcame a poor start to end last season third in the league table while also lifting the DFB Cup for a second straight year. Just one win from their first five games saw Leipzig drop to 11th in the table, prompting Domenico Tedesco's sacking. The results instantly improved under new coach Marco Rose as Leipzig hit a consistent run of form, including ending the season on a strong note of seven wins from their final eight games to finish third and going all the way in the DFB Cup. It has been a busy summer for Leipzig who have brought in nine new players while at the same time losing three of their key players from last season. Nkunku's departure had already been confirmed at the start of the year while Szoboszlai and Gvardiol have also left in big money moves to the Premier League. Other departures include Andre Silva moving on loan while Laimer, Halstenberg, Sorloth, Angelino, Krauß and Martinez have also left. Leipzig have revamped their attack with Benjamin Sesko and Lois Openda signed for hefty fees while the likes of Christoph Baumgartner, Xavi Simons and Fabio Carvalho are expected to support the attack. Leipzig have replaced Gvardiol by signing two promising defenders in Castello Lukeba and El Chadaille Bitshiabu while Nicolas Seiwald has also arrived to improve the options in the center of the midfield. It is a season of change for Leipzig but they have brought in a number of players with good potential though it remains to be seen whether they will hit the ground running, which is crucial if Leipzig are to ensure a far more comfortable campaign this time around.
