Bochum were promoted to the top flight after an impressive showing last season. They were consistent throughout and played some good stuff under coach Thomas Reis. Reis will know the size of the task awaiting him and his players for the coming season but he should have them well prepared. The club have made improvements to the squad over the summer but, due to restricted finances, these have been through free transfers and loans. Lowen, Rexhbecaj and Stafylidis have all been brought in and should provide good experience at this level. Antwi-Adjei is a decent addition on the wing, while forgotten attacker Asano has been given the chance to show his ability at the top level again. Young midfielder Osterhage is also an interesting signing from Dortmund. You do feel Bochum will still need a few more players before the window shuts. Player of last season, Zulj has also moved on and that could leave a whole in their creative output. You would still expect Bochum to play good football this season but they will have to learn to play without the ball a lot more, they dominated possession a lot in the league below but this is unlikely to be the case this time.

Target

Survival - There is no doubt that Bochum will be one of the favourites for the drop this season but anything is possible if they start well.
