Gladbach were inconsistent last season and failed to live up to the heights of the previous campaign, the news of the manager leaving unsettled them and they eventually fell just outside the European places. There has been somewhat of a manager merry go round in the Bundesliga this summer. Marco Rose left to join rivals Dortmund, Adi Hutter switched to Gladbach from Frankfurt and Oliver Glasner has taken over at Frankfurt from Wolfsburg. Hutter hasn't been given much in the way of spending money over the summer and that is evident from the lack of new players. The club have secured the services of attacking midfield talent Hannes Wolf on a permanent deal and you will expect him to feature more in the coming season. Young left-back Netz has also been brought in from Hertha. The good news for Gladbach is that they have again managed to keep hold of their better players. If Hutter can get the best out of Thuram, Plea, Hofmann, Stindl and Neuhaus, then there is no doubt they can hurt teams. Defensively they will need to be more solid and you feel that could be a weakness again, as well as a soft underbelly that appeared far too often last season when the going got tough.
