Borussia Dortmund can look forward to the new campaign with relative optimism despite the disappointment of losing the Champions League final at the hands of bitter rivals Bayern Munchen. They have regenerated their squad bringing in an extra defender in the form of Sokratis while up front the talents of Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang look set to help an already fearsome attack that includes Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowkski who was linked with a move away from die Schwarz-Gelben for most of the summer. There have also been a few departures most notably highly rated German midfielder Mario Götze who left to Bayern under a hale of criticism. Some other squad players have gone such as Patrick Owomoyela and Felipe Santana while Moritz Leitner and Leonardo Bittencourt have both gone on loan to other Bundesliga sides. Klopp's men managed a pre season victory against Guardiola's Bayern in the Super Cup which is a huge moral boost for the team but they will have a tough time taking their title away from them although they will want to push them closer than they did last term. Further Champions League success is also something the club will be gunning for this year which is something the coaches and players all openly discuss.

Target

Push Bayern harder in the Bundesliga and reach the latter phases of the Champions League again.
