Eintracht Braunschweig will be looking to enjoy their time in the top division of the German football after an excellent campaign saw them finish second in the 2.Bundesliga and secure promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in nearly three decades. Braunschweig last played in the Bundesliga back in the 1984-85 season and alternated between the second and third divisions over the next 28 years before finally securing promotion to the Bundesliga. Coach Torsten Lieberknecht revealed that this season will be a learning experience for his side and that they will have to quickly get used to the fact that they will not be winning as many games as they have gotten used to. Braunschweig are also lacking players experienced in the Bundesliga and Lieberknech has tried to correct it by bringing in Marco Caligiuri from Mainz and Torsten Oehrl from Augsburg. Simeon Jackson also completed a move from Norwich City in a free transfer and the Canadian striker is expected to lead the line at least until Domi Kumbela, who was the top scorer in 2.Bundesliga with 19 goals last season, returns to full fitness after undergoing surgery for a thigh injury. Braunschweig have impressed in the pre-season friendlies, holding their own against Hamburger SV in the Nord Cup, before losing out on penalties, and securing an impressive win over Wolfsburg. And while not many at the club are attaching much importance to the friendlies, fans will be hopeful that their side can maintain their form when the season kicks off and emerge as a surprise package this season.

Target

Will do well to stay in the league with the club favorites for the drop this season.
