Furth made improvements last season under coach Stefan Leitl. They played some good football at times and some promising youngsters made their breakthrough. Results towards the end did falter but in the end a mid-table finish was a successful one. Due to the financial strain of the pandemic, Furth as expected haven’t been particularly active in the transfer market, however, Leitl has addressed the need for a centre-back after stalwart defender Marco Caligiuri retired, bringing in young prospect Abdourahmane Barry. Coach Leitl has further emphasised his dedication to making youth a big part of his team moving forward. Daniel Keita-Ruel has been moved on to Sandhausen and replaced by young striker Dickson Abiama, a free transfer from Eltersdorf, he is joined by Anton Stach, another youngster with potential in the midfield. Exciting 19 year-old Jamie Leweling made his breakthrough last season and is expected to push on this season. Furth are expected to again be a free flowing attacking unit with Branimir Hrgota at the heart of their creative prowess, the problem last year was that they were often caught out on the counter-attack and this will need to be addressed.

Target

Top 6- A top six finish isn’t out of the question for Furth as they will look to push on from last year, there is plenty of young quality coming through the ranks. The slight cause for concern is the lack of experience if they do struggle and of course their strength in depth if injuries play a part.
