Sandhausen had somewhat mixed last season, with the first 3-4 months of the campaign difficult, but then close to Christmas and in 2020 the form picked up allowing White and Blacks to eventually secure their survival with 4 games to spare. At times during the campaign had problems at both ends of the pitch, but credit to coach Koschinat he found solutions and improved those areas as the campaign progressed. The main change in the off-season so far at left-back where regular Paqarada left, but very well replaced with experienced Contento. Sandhausen also seem to have strengthened their attack well with the signings of playmaker Ouahim and typical target man Keita-Ruel. In general the transfer activity so far had been pretty positive and the squad looks stronger at least on paper. Had success with back 3 near the end of last term and expected to use this defensive formation much more extensively from now on. Also, after missing most of last season, injured important inner midfielder Zenga is ready to lead the team again. Sandhausen’s main strength is their team spirit and desire to cover each other’s mistakes. The main weakness is seen not so much as anything in terms of players, but more the team’s precarious financial situation. In 2 of the last 5 years Sandhausen had points deducted due to delayed tax payments and, with the huge uncertainty surrounding the new season, if this happens again the damage could be extremely costly in terms of table position.
