Chapecoense's recent story is a tragic and special one, which is quite an understatement. The well documented plane crash affected this club in so many ways. The club had to build a new team and the aftermath surely made an impact as well. Chapecoense's performances last season were actually quite impressive in the circumstances. Manager Gilson Kleina, who coached Chapecoense during the final months of the season, was able to push the green outfit to the eighth spot by booking a series of draws and defeats. This was better than expected and the atmosphere in Chapeco will be positive at the start of the new year as a result. Demanding another top eight finish from this outfit would be a bit too much, but Chapecoense should be able to prevent relegation problems. Amaral and Vinicius are exciting new arrivals and building a new team will be Gilson Kleina's first mission.

Target


A top ten finish will be a realistic goal, but this side will have to create a gap with the bottom four as soon as possible as well. This outfit did slip into the relegation zone last season, but they managed to bounce back later on.
