Vitoria managed to secure their Serie A spot for the second season in a row in 2017, which was again an achievement to be proud of. The club doesn't have the budget to add well-known names to their squad, but they somehow managed to prevent the drop back to the Serie B by finishing sixteenth for the second time in succession. The last campaign was a dramatic one as Vitoria eventually sealed the deal due to their goal difference. The start of the 2018 season could bring pressure to bear on the squad, as Vitoria could be one of the favourites for relegation. The attack took a big hit as Santiago Trellez, David Fonseca and Kieza left the club, and it remains to be seen whether Vitoria will have enough potential to deal with this. Most new players are defenders and midfielders and manager Vagner Mancini will have to produce something special again to prevent the drop to the second tier. Vitoria is one of the underdogs, but this team already showed that they're capable of performing when the pressure is on.
