The 2022/23 season saw Leicester relegated from the Premier League after a memorable nine-year stay in the top flight. It was a dismal campaign full of costly mistakes both on and off the pitch as the Foxes lost 22 of their 38 league matches. The off season has seen Enzo Maresca appointed as the club’s new manager. The Italian has little managerial experience but spent last season as assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. There has been an exodus of players including the departure of some star names with Maddison and Barnes both leaving for around £40 million. Money has been reinvested with experienced Premier League regulars Winks and Coady joining. Young Manchester City centre-back Doyle, who impressed during spell at Coventry last season, comes in on loan. The goalkeeping position was problematic last season, Leicester fans will hope the signing of Danish international Hermansen rectifies this. More incomings and outgoings are expected before the transfer window closes. There is excitement around the club with a freshness brought by much needed changes to the playing squad and a progressive manager with his own style of play. The Championship is different from the Premier League and you need to be able to fight and battle. That was a criticism of Leicester last season, can they adapt after a long time in the Premier League to the challenges of the second tier.

Target

With the managerial appointment and the signings made, promotion back to the Premier League is definitely the aim.
