The Millers flirted with danger all of last season and they didn’t secure safety until the penultimate round. Rotherham’s inability to score goals saw them register many 0:0 draws and 0:1 defeats. Defensively they played well enough, especially once Matt Taylor took over in October, the early managerial change proved the right move. Rotherham continue to work on a very small budget and their abilities to improve the squad are next to none. This is reflected in the transfer activity so far this summer. Cashed in on their best forward asset winger Ogbene. Also, let some useful veterans on high wages walk away. The only notable new signing so far is that of holding midfielder Cafu. Also, made Hall’s stay a permanent move and he is expected to be the pillar of the back line this season. Rotherham struggled for goals with Ogbene on the pitch and now with him gone and no other strikers signed this will be the main weakness again. Hopes are that the winter signing Hugill will contribute a lot up front but the Millers need to add wingers as they have none of those on their current roster. Dipping on the loans market in coming weeks will be vital as to if Rotherham will have enough firepower to stay out of trouble this season. Monitoring their transfer activity until the end of August will give better indication as to their survival chances.

Target

Staying out of trouble is the only goal. Will need to be better in attack in order to avoid relegation.
