An inconsistent 2022/23 season saw Preston finish 12th six points adrift of the playoff places. It was a first full season in charge for Ryan Lowe who will again lead the Lilywhites. Since they returned to the Championship for the 2015/16 season Preston have not finished higher than seventh or lower than 14th. The off season has seen Preston largely keep hold of their best players. Young striker Cannon has gone back to parent club Everton. He was a fans favourite last season and there is a possibility of getting him back. Club stalwart Johnson was offered a new deal but he has chosen to leave. Preston have a tight budget but Lowe has been given some money to spend this window. New Danish attacking midfielder Frokjaer-Jensen has the potential to star, it depends how he adapts to the pace of the Championship, he was tracked by the club for a while. Holmes and Keane are experienced Championship performers, Ramsey and Stewart are promising youngsters. A few more incomings are expected. Preston again have a solid core of players to work from who know what it takes to compete in the Championship. The challenge is can they go to the next level. It is difficult to see. Their home form will have to improve from last season and they need to score more goals, in 2022/23 they only managed 45 in their 46 league games.
