Barrow endured an awful conclusion of last season when they suffered a number of heavy defeats and only the fact that they accumulated a high number of points earlier in the campaign saved them from being dragged into the mire of relegation. The team noticeably lacked motivation and any real quality since the decision of the board to sack Darren Sheridan back in late January. Dave Bayliss seemed to struggle in the role as a solitary boss and will be determined to make a better fist of it at the back of a full pre-season. There has been little to get the locals excited for the new season as new signings have been far and few. Sean Hessey and Gavin Hunter are solid and experienced players who can help out but overall the squad seems to be lacking in genuine quality. With Andy Cook and Jack Mackreth departing, Paul Rutherford and Adam Boyes remain the only two players who seem capable of finding the back of the net on regular basis at the moment. Bayliss is working hard to bring new players on a very small budget but it looks like Barrow may face the biggest challenge to their top-flight non-league status since securing promotion four years ago.

Target

Survival is the only aim but at the moment it looks difficult to see the Cumbrian side saving themselves.
