Newport County are hoping for a smoother and less troubled campaign ahead having came clue to relegation last season but also reach a Wembley final in the FA Trophy. The Welsh club still had a pretty turbulent summer as they agreed a deal to move to rugby stadium Rodney Parade for a few seasons due to the dreadful pitch condition of their old Spytty Park. The move is expected to generate enthusiasm among the fans and allow the team to play some decent football on the deck which was plain impossible in the last few months of the previous season. Justin Edinburgh was rewarded for the fine job he did in the previous season to steady a ship that was heading for a wreck by getting a new contract and the boss will look to build on the foundations and make the team capable of challenging for at least the top-ten places. He made some shrewd business during the summer as Alan Julian, Danny Crow and Tony James joined up but the most exciting signing is former Bradford man Matthew Flynn who re-joined his boyhood club and will bring wealth of experience and composure in midfield. The Exiles probably need a player or two more and the loss of Gary Warren to Inverness is a major blow but Newport seemed to be ready for the next step after two years in the Conference and a new ground may just provide the launching pad for a play-off push.

Target

The play-offs are not such a far-fetched dream as it looks as there was some good players in the side and Edinburgh is a fine manager but it still looks too much of a challenge.
