Nuneaton are back in the top-flight of non-league football four years after the club started from the ashes after the originally Nuneaton Borough were liquidated. A narrow 1:0 win away at Gainsborough in the play-off final in the Blue Square North in May sealed their return and manager Kevin Wilkin will be looking to make a good fist of their quest for survival. Boro played some solid defensive football while having the extra bit of quality up front last season but now the level will be much tougher and it remains to be seen whether the current squad have what it takes. The star name in the new recruits is that of Kyle Perry who struggled at Lincoln and Telford in the last 12 months but the striker will be keen to make up for lost time and prove doubters wrong. Andy Brown, who scored the key goals in the play-offs, sealed a permanent move from Telford and is expected to play a big role in midfield. However, with skipper Mark Noon set to miss a large chunk of the season due to an ankle injury, the lack of midfield leader will be a worry for Wilkin. The rest of the summer signings have not been very encouraging and it may well be a difficult long season for the newcomers. Still, they might just have enough to beat the drop.

Target

The newcomers look capable of securing safety but will need to make a good start and not fall down into the mire quickly.
